Rumpus

Who's down to hang tonight? Rumpus is for friend groups that are tired of typing "anyone on?" Tap I'm down, see who else is, find a time that works for everyone, and pencil in a plan. It's opt-in, it's free right now, and it doesn't read your chat.

Start with these five

• /rumpus is home. One private screen with a button for everything, so you never have to remember a command.
• /down tells your circle you're down to hang. It lasts 2 hours unless you say different, like /down 11pm or /down late.
• /whosdown shows who in your circle is down right now, and who's in voice or playing.
• /plan new makes a plan card with In, Maybe and Out buttons. It stays penciled in until you lock it. Everyone who's In or Maybe gets a reminder an hour before and 15 minutes before. The card has an Add to calendar button for Google, Apple or Outlook, and friends you invite by DM get the calendar file with the invite.
• /besttime shows the top three windows for you and your friends, like "Thu 8-11 PM, 4 of 5 usually free." It never says who's free. It works once a few friends have set up and added their usual times with /settings usual.

Kit's place

Kit is a raccoon who grows as you show up. Say hi once a day and he gets bigger. He also has a place: a small screen inside Discord, on desktop and mobile, where you can open his room, give him a snack and play, and, as he grows, pick his look and set up his shelf. Tap Open Kit's place on your /rumpus home to get there.

Playing around in his room doesn't count toward anything, and it keeps no record of when you visit. Saying hi counts, same as the button. Kit never dies or shrinks if you skip a few days. He naps.

The Lounge is a tab in Kit's place: a shared room for the people in your Activity, usually your voice call. If you've set up Rumpus and your raccoon buddy's on, your Kit walks in on his own when you open it. The others see him, your Discord display name on him, the emotes you send, and his look if Show my look is on. Not your room, shelf, plans or days. To just look around, switch Bring my Kit off. He leaves right away, but the others can see him for a moment first. Talking is optional: if you let Discord tell Rumpus who's talking, the others see a small sign by your Kit while you talk. Rumpus never gets audio or words. The Lounge doesn't count toward anything, and none of it goes in Rumpus's database.

Privacy, plainly

Nothing starts until you run /optin. It's one form. You tick that you're 13 or older, pick who sees you, and pick what to share. Voice, online status and message times are three separate switches and they all start off. DMs start off too.

Rumpus doesn't read your chat. Message times means it notes that you posted and when, never what you said. The one time it uses a message's words is when you right-click a message (or long-press on your phone) and pick Plan this. It uses that one message to fill in the plan form and doesn't keep it unless you send the form.

Invisible means hidden, unless you flip the one setting that lets your circle see you. Your raccoon and your hellos are private, except that in the Lounge the people with you see your Kit. Your check-ins go to your circle and nobody else.

/optout pauses it. /forget-me deletes everything about you, and a backup copy can sit around for up to 14 days after. /settings export sends you your data. Rumpus doesn't sell data or run ads.

Two ways to add it

Add to Server is the full thing, including who's around and alerts. Add to My Apps puts your own commands in any server, DM or group chat you're in. It can't see who's online or in voice, so alerts and who's around need the server version.
